How does Assisted Living differ from a Skilled Nursing Facility?

Assisted Living is designed to provide elderly who are mostly able to care for themselves with the help they need in a few daily activities such as meal preparation, bathing, dressing, or managing medicine. Skilled Nursing Facilities are designed to care for people that are not able to care for themselves and have numerous healthcare needs that require ongoing assistance. Our team members at Morning Breeze will help you and your loved ones determine what best suits your individual needs.

Skilled Nursing Facility

When is the right time to consider a stay in a skilled nursing facility?

A skilled nursing facility is a place where people who have everyday medical needs are able to live comfortably under the supervision of medical professionals, either for a short or extended period of time. Upon discharge from a hospital or the development of a medical condition, you should speak with your doctor or a member of your health care team in order to determine whether residence in a skilled nursing facility is the best option for you.

Why move to a skilled nursing facility, instead of remaining in the hospital?

Hospitals are designed to treat patients who have a severe medical problem that can only be treated in a hospital. Skilled nursing facilities offer a more cost-effective, specialized environment designed to cater to residents’ individual lifestyle needs in addition to their medical needs. Skilled nursing facilities provide a more comfortable place to live and recover than a hospital, where the focus is on more intense medical treatment.

Why is Morning Breeze’s Skilled Nursing Facility the best choice for me or my loved one?

Who pays for the skilled nursing facility care?

There are many different payment options for a stay at a skilled nursing facility, depending on your individual circumstances. Our team will help you and your family determine which option is appropriate for you. If you are eligible for government assistance through Medicaid or Medicare, our team will assist you with the application process and help ensure that you receive those benefits. If you are not eligible for government benefits, insurance or payment using personal funds may be the appropriate path for you.

Will my long-term care insurance pay for the skilled nursing facility?

Long Term Care Insurance is becoming more common, but coverage for care depends on your individual policy. Our experienced admission and social work staff will be happy to review your insurance policy and help determine whether and to what extent your policy will provide coverage for your stay.
